Submerged Scraper Conveyors (SSC)are generally used for ash removal below the coal fi red boilers of large power plants. They generally use a two chain conveying system, with a driving station using sprockets (toothed or pocket wheel type) and the chain guided by intermediate and reverse wheels following the path required for conveying the bulk material.In the most advanced and demanding confi gurations, this kind of conveyors make use of special long-pitch chains, corresponding to the CICSA LH standard. The LH class chains designed for these conveyors are carburized and especially heat-treated to achieve exceptionally high resistance to wear coupled with a high tensile stress resistance.
